Save our Greenbelt

Is this the future ? The death of the Green Belt - A heartfelt film by Jo Haywood

 DRAG  our aim

The aim of DRAG is to protect and retain our current Greenbelt status .

We strongly  oppose the South West Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) proposal to remove the Greenbelt status from the swathe of land from the A370 to the A38 and the lower slopes of Dundry for the development of an urban extension.

The Greenbelt of Dundry and the surrounding areas of North Somerset will be lost forever if the Governments plans are upheld- Dundry will be encased in concrete and become a  new suburb of Bristol to be known as  Ashton Park.

The slopes of the Dundry Hills can be viewed from all over Bristol and as far away as the Mendips, Cotswolds and South Wales, they are Bristols natural southern boundary and bring the countryside into the heart of the City. THEY MUST BE KEPT GREEN.

Greenbelt has been with us for over 60years, its purpose is to prevent urban sprawl,
It provides easy access to open countryside for the enjoyment of both young and old
for recreation, walking, sports etc.

We want no building on existing designated Greenbelt land.

D R A G    is an acronym of the
              Dundry ResidentsAction Group
                                    formed August 2008

The Action Group is comprised entirely of local volunteers. Our aim is to oppose the removal of Green Belt status from hundreds of acres of land for the development of an urban extension. To do this we will do our best to:

» Determine what is going on, where, and when
» To communicate what we find to the local community
» To fight all moves to replace our Green Belt

Any help from you is appreciated.
